Growth is read as a trajectory, not a single point. Three in every hundred healthy children sit below the 3rd percentile. What matters is whether the curve is followed over time — bring earlier measurements to your appointment.

Thresholds: American Academy of Pediatrics 2022 guideline, for babies born at 35 weeks or later. A skin (transcutaneous) reading close to the line should be confirmed with a blood test. Your baby’s doctor decides on treatment.

- A limp, pale child, or one who is very hard to wake
