Elizabeth and Mary were born in Cameroon joined at the hip, sharing parts of the spine, spinal cord, bowel and urinary tract. They came to Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital at nine months old, and after seven months of planning a 27-hour operation separated them successfully. At 16 months they went home as two independent babies.
